I had a great time at the Chili Feed and was pleasantly surprised at the turnout. A little more effort in getting the word around would certainly be to our benefit for coming events.

All in all the food was good, there was just about the right amount. I suggested passing the hat but I think it got turned around and was perceived to be for the meeting rather than for NYPAA, how I had intended. I thought it would have been a good idea to pass the hat for contributions above and beyond the $5 entry. No harm done. We likely raised a good amount (more than the Volleyball) with this but I don't know what the costs were, if any.

Here's to Carol & Jessica for diving in and making this happen. Thank you for all you did.  Smiley

I had a great time in Omaha at the chili feed.  I would say we were short on food though (Although the food we did have was amazing!).  I was curious when they passed the hat after already requiring an admission.  A little more clarity on where it is going when we pass would be great.  Carol did mention it was going to GSO, but if we intended it to be for future NYPAA events I'm sure some would still contribute as long as they knew where it was going.  All in all, a good time and I can't wait for the next one!  Thanks to all who set it up and cooked the food!

Thomas, glad you were there and had a good time. I suggested the passing of the hat, but not with the intention of the money going to GSO but rather to NYPAA, I guess I dod not express it that way to the ladies. I suggested it as the event was a fundraiser and at the time of the suggestion (630-700) we were only covering expenses with an entry fee. Our coffers are not up as yet and hopefully with the area becoming more familiar with us and our goals attendance and funds both will increase. No one should ever feel inclined to donate after an entry cost but if they choose it is more than appreciated. Thanks for the feedback.

The Chili feed was a great success, especially for our first year!  Thank you so much for those who came and supported NYPAA.  I owe a big thanks to all of you who donated your time and $ to make chili to keep our initial cost down.  Thanks to my husband for the wonderful idea!  LOL, how interesting he wasn't there to pitch it or head the committee!  Although, he definitely showed to help set up, eat the chili, and clean up!  I enjoyed doing this and working with Carole.  We are a great team.

Next year we will have to double or even the triple the amount of chili, after all it was all you can eat.

Carole and I both understood your intentions.  We all just jumped into things so quickly that Carlole, Cathy  and I thought it best to contribute to GSO since we did ask for an admittance fee.  However I think in the future that passing the bucket around separately for NYPAA would also be a good thing.  Like Thomas said I think people would gladly donate more if they knew it was going to NYPAA for future events!
